Product Designer
About Ai Lean
Ai Lean is an early-stage B2B SaaS company building the operational backbone of the self-storage industry.
We offer the only end-to-end collections and delinquency management platform, helping operators across all 50 U.S. states and Canada eliminate manual breakdowns, stay compliant, and recover revenue.
Product at Ai Lean is hands-on and deeply connected to real customer outcomes. We’re not shipping features for vanity metrics—we’re building disciplined systems operators rely on every day, where accuracy matters and edge cases are real.
We’re a hard-working team that thrives both collaboratively and independently. You’ll be expected to take initiative, think clearly, and move work forward without waiting for perfect direction. Our team is whip-smart, kind, and genuinely willing to help. If you’re ready to jump in, take ownership, and shape a product that truly works in the real world, you’ll feel right at home here.
The role
We need a product designer who thinks in systems and workflows before pixels. You'll own design from problem framing through high-fidelity delivery, working directly with the CPO, Product Managers and users to translate compliance domain knowledge into UX, and with engineering to ship in our stack.
This is not a UI polish role. The hardest design problems here are information architecture, workflow sequencing, and progressive disclosure across personas with radically different cognitive loads and contexts.
What you'll do
Run your own discovery: shadow users, synthesize findings, frame the design problem before opening Figma
Produce low-fidelity flows, storyboards, and journey maps as primary artifacts.
Own high-fidelity design in Figma (we use the Obra shadcn/ui community kit); work with engineering to maintain the component library and design system
Pressure-test your own work against edge cases. What happens when a jurisdiction has no newspaper of record, when a tenant has three overlapping delinquency events, when a sync failure drops records silently
Design for multiple personas on the same underlying data, the same compliance event looks different to a site manager, a district manager, and an ops admin
What you've done
5+ years designing data-heavy, workflow-driven software, compliance, operations, logistics, fintech, legal tech, or similar domains where errors have real consequences
You can point to work where your contribution was the workflow architecture, not just the visual skin on someone else's requirements
Fluent in Figma including component libraries, auto-layout, and handoff
Have worked directly with engineers throughout implementation
Experience with design system
What you're not
A pixel-pusher who needs fully specified requirements to start
Someone who treats wireframes as a checkbox before the "real" Figma work
A PM-dependent designer who waits for requirements rather than contributing to them
